Cooking with Bunmi

Bunmi's Zesty African Rice
This is a popular one-pot rice dish with a delicious tomato and pepper flavor that comes from Bunmi's Zesty Sauce. This dish is often served at special occasions and gatherings.
Bunmi has created a vegetable stock that is a great substitute for chicken stock. Bunmi uses either chicken or vegetable stock and cooks it with a variety of vegetables to include carrots, celery, and Chinese cabbage. Bunmi likes to add tofu to her soups. To add zest, use a couple of teaspoons (or more) of Bunmi's Zesty Sauce. You can use Bunmi Zesty Sauce to any soup recipe or even commercial soup. It even makes instant dried noodle soups taste Zesty.

Bunmi's Zesty Plantain and Egg
Plantains are a large variety of banana that is a staple food in many countries. Plantains must be cooked to be eaten. Most Africans fry Plantains just like French Fries. You can get good results using an air fryer as well. You can also bake plantain. Fry the plantains until they are brown and tender. Fry a couple of eggs and place them over your plantains. Use a couple of teaspoons of Bunmi's Zesty Sauce to add Zest.

Bunmi's Zesty Stew
Stews are the foundation of African meals. For a very easy stew, cut up pre-roasted chicken and mix it with one jar of Bunmi's Zesty Sauce. Simmer for 10 minutes. Bunmi's Zesty Sauce is ideal for stewing beef, pork, chicken, or goat. Add vegetables. To be truly authentic, add Okra. Africans like to eat stew with pounded yams. A variety of substitutes will work. You can try oatmeal, mashed rice, or even serve it with potatoes. Of course, if you combine the Zesty Plantains and Zest African Rice, you can have an African Zesty Feast.

Terree's Zesty Beef Barley Soup
2 lbs of chuck roast cubed, water, celery, onion, garlic, rosemary, and thyme. Cover beef with water. Let it cook until tender about 3 hours. Add a 16 oz bag of mixed vegetables, red potatoes, and barley. Let that cook for another couple of hours in the crock pot. Then add a can of tomatoes and a jar of Bunmi's Zesty Sauce. Let it cook for about an hour. It is delicious! It is even better the next day. Of course, would be faster on a stovetop.
